Here is a listing of sports and recreation cancellations and postponements due to concerns regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
MARCH 28: Cops and Bobbers youth fishing rodeo at Gilly’s Park in Rocky Mount has been canceled.
APRIL 4: The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office First Responders Charity Basketball Tournament has been postponed to a later date.
APRIL 11: The 21st annual Easter Egg Hunt, staged by the Franklin County Department of Parks and Recreation, at Waid Recreation Area and Sports Complex, has been canceled.
APRIL 11: The ninth annual Special Olympics Charity Bass Fishing Tournament, staged by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office on Philpott Lake has been canceled.
APRIL 18: The Chug for the Jug 5K has been postponed. It has been rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24 at 8 a.m at Franklin County High School.
APRIL 25: The Osprey 10K-5K Run/Walk is rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 10.
MAY 1-3: The 52nd annual SML Fishing Tournament at Gills Creek Marina has been postponed and rescheduled for Oct. 16-18.
MAY 8: The Christmas Joy Golf Tournament, hosted by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office has been postponed to October. No date has been announced.
Franklin County Department of Parks and Recreation has suspended all athletics and programs until further notice.
Parks will remain open (playground and bathrooms are closed). Shelter reservations will be rescheduled or given a refund. No additional reservations will be allowed until further notice.
