Benjamin Franklin Middle School’s boys and girls track and field teams competed for team and individual championships Thursday in the Junior Piedmont District’s annual postseason meet at Laurel Park Middle School.

The Eagles boys squad won team titles in 2016 and 2017 and the girls team captured the championship in 2017. Fieldale-Collinsville Middle School’s boys team and Halifax County’s girls team are the reigning district champions.

Thursday marks the last time that BFMS will compete in the Junior Piedmont District meet as next spring the Eagles will be members of a new district.

A group of five photos of BFMS student-athletes were taken at a recent meet at Franklin County High School’s Bruce M. Kent Track Field during the boys triple jump competition. Also included is a photo of Nathan Atchue (above at right) winning a distance race for the Eagles.
