BFMS edges Lucy Addison on the hardcourts

Charlie Comer, Benjamin Franklin Middle School’s top player in singles and one-half of the Eagles’ No. 1 doubles duo, returns this shot from the baseline during Wednesday match against Lucy Addison Middle School of Roanoke. Comer was victorious in singles and doubles as the Eagles captured their third win of the season.

SONTAG- Benjamin Franklin Middle School won four singles matches and two doubles events Wednesday in a 23-15 co-ed tennis triumph over Lucy Addison Middle School at the Franklin County Recreation Park courts.

BFMS’s victory is its third third season.

Winning in singles for the Eagles were Charlie Comer (3-2), Samantha Parker (3-0), Scotty Worley (3-0) and Caroline Hall (3-0).

The teams of Comer and Colleen Sweeney (3-2) and Worley and Hall (3-2) wer victorious in doubles.

Losing singles matches were Madison Cox (3-2) and Sweeney (3-1), while the duo of Cox and Parker (3-2) was defeated in doubles.

BFMS (3-2-1), coached by Stephanie Lovelace, returns to action Monday against Woodrow Wilson Middle School. Match time is 4:45 p.m. at the recreation park.
