ROANOKE – New York Jets defensive end Tarell Basham, a former prep player at Franklin County and former college performer at Ohio University, is conducting the Basham’s Skills Camp, Friday, July 12 at William Fleming High School.
There is no charge to attend the camp.
A three-hour session is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The camp is for boys and girls ages 7-18.
Franklin County baseball program to conduct youth camp July 22-25
Franklin County’s baseball program has scheduled its annual summer youth camp for Monday, July 22 through Friday, July 25 at W.W. Naff Jr. Field on the campus of Benjamin Franklin Middle School.
Daily sessions are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The camp, which is free of charge, is for ages 5 to 12.
Campers should arrive at the field by 8:15 a.m. and they should be picked up by 1:15 p.m.
A snack and a drink will be provided daily.
Campers will be instructed in all facets of the game at each position.
Campers will need to bring all baseball equipment and sneakers.
A towel and a change of clothes will be needed for Thursday’s session when sliding drills are taught and practiced.

Summer sports camps are coming to Ferrum College
FERRUM – Summer athletics camps in two sports are set for next week and one is set for August on the Ferrum College campus.
Ferrum’s annual baseball camp is for kindergarten through seventh grade from July 8-11.
This is a day camp.
Half-day instruction is $95 and full-day instruction is $180.

A lacrosse camp is scheduled for July 8-10 and is for girls ages 6 to 18.
Cost for resident campers is $285 and cost for day campers is $180.

An evening soccer camp under the lights is scheduled for August 5 through 7 for elementary through high school students.
The camp is divided into two age groups and by gender: sessions for ages 6-10 are from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and sessions for ages 11 and older are from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Cost is $25 for the younger campers and $45 for the older campers.
Campers will practice technical skills such as dribbling, passing and receiving, and shooting as well as tactical skills such as attacking and defending in small groups and full field.
