A Rocky Mount woman has been charged following a shooting that occurred around 3 a.m. Monday Jan. 7 at the intersection of Bonbrook Mill and Wirtz roads.
The alleged shooter, Kimberly Ann Morgan-Lefever, 45, was arrested after an argument with an unidentified 47-year-old man led to her firing a single shot from a handgun that struck the man’s hand and grazed his head. According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, the pair were in a recreational vehicle parked near a residence in the area. A Jan. 8 press release from the sheriff’s office stated the injuries to the victim were not life-threatening. Deputies say Morgan-Lefever called 911 to report the gunshot wound.
Morgan-Lefever was charged with felony malicious wounding. She is being held in the Western Virginia Regional Jail without bond. The investigation is still pending and additional charges may be applied, according to the press release.
