Two people responsible for the theft of a purse and vehicle from an individual attending a funeral at a church on Lakemount Drive on Aug. 3 are in jail.

Kevin Salisbury, 33, of Vinton, and Courtney Ann Rucker, 28, of Fincastle, are charged with felony grand larceny of a motor vehicle and are facing multiple other charges stemming from the theft, according to Capt. Phillip Young of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators obtained a confession in the larceny of the vehicle, he said. The two individuals attended an Aug. 3 funeral at the church and stole an unattended purse and a vehicle using keys found inside it. They were identified using video evidence from the church. They were located with the stolen vehicle Aug. 6 in Montgomery, Maryland.

They face additional charges in Montgomery, Maryland, as well as in Vinton and Bedford.
