Community-minded citizens of the Smith Mountain Lake region will have an opportunity to make an impact on poverty in Bedford, Franklin and Pittsylvania counties on Sept. 14 during Lake Christian Ministries’ second annual SML Walk to End Poverty.

Registration starts at 9 a.m. on race day; the 5k/10k walk begins at 10 a.m. at Smith Mountain State Park. Walkers, runners, individuals and teams are welcome, and friendly competition among teams is invited and encouraged. The registration fee is $10 for ages 18 and older or $5 for those younger than 18.
