Shop 'til you drop at Lord's Acre sale

Members of Mount Zion United Methodist Church sold pies and cakes during last year’s Lord’s Acre Sale. This year’s sale is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Franklin County High School.

The 54th annual Lord's Acre/Lord's Hour Sale will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the Law parking lot at Franklin County High School.

The sale provides revenue for participating churches to use for missions, building projects and community service.

The sale has been a longtime tradition for Franklin County and area churches. The first sale was held Oct. 17, 1964 at the old fairgrounds, which at the time was behind the Lane Company in Rocky Mount. The sale was later moved to the parking lot of Franklin County High School and has been there ever since.

This year, 17 churches are participating, in addition to the community store that will have donated items for sale with all proceeds benefiting Franklin County’s Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squads.
