Kroger in Rocky Mount now is offering pickup service.
On Nov. 7, Kroger at 400 Old Franklin Turnpike began offering customers the ability to complete their shopping online.
Pickup offers customers the opportunity to shop online and pick up their groceries without having to enter the store. Kroger waives the $4.95 service charge for a customer’s first three orders, and no minimum purchase is required.
Kroger at Westlake Towne Center in Hardy began pickup service in July 2017. Allison McGee, corporate affairs manager for Kroger Mid-Atlantic, said the Rocky Mount store had to build space to accommodate the service, whereas the Westlake location already had space for it.
“Many of our customers throughout Virginia have told us that pickup changed their grocery shopping experience for the better, which is why we’re so excited to now offer our Rocky Mount customers the chance to complete their shopping online,” McGee said. “We know that life gets hectic, and that’s why we strive to bring time-saving solutions like pickup to our customers.”
In addition, pickup also has added new jobs to the Rocky Mount store.
“Pickup always leads to job creation when it’s added to stores,” McGee said. “Often, technology and automation led to fewer jobs, but Kroger has been able to add jobs with services like online ordering. The Rocky Mount store has 10 to 15 new jobs due to pickup.”
Customers can select a time to pick up their order with at least four hours’ notice. Orders must be picked up at one of the designated pickup parking spaces, where a Kroger employee will load items into the customer’s vehicle.
