From STAFF REPORTS

Moonshine Memories is back for a second year.

Franklin County Historical Society will host “Moonshine Memories … Old & New” at Snow Creek on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event will be held on Jimmy Cannoy’s property at 4087 Snow Creek Road. Signs will mark the route from Va. 40 East and U.S. 220 South.

Vintage vehicle owners and spectators are welcome. No admission fee will be charged; however, a donation of at least $5 per person is suggested.

The day will include a cruise-in type car show of vehicles – some that “may have” hauled moonshine liquor. Prize drawings will be held for vehicle owners. Pre-registration isn’t necessary for vehicle owners; however, interested car owners may call the historical society at 483-1890. Parking will be on the grass.

Steel band music, Buddy’s BBQ and a 50/50 drawing will all be a part of the festivities as will a raffle for a bucket of moonshine-themed items. The historical society will also offer various items for sale. Visitors may tour a replica Texaco service station and garage to see moonshine and auto collectibles.

There will be many photo opportunities and props will be provided for fun photos.
