Inside Jimmy Cannoy’s replica Texaco filling station, visitors find a dozen vehicles and moonshine collectibles. It’ll be open Saturday, Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Jimmy Cannoy will open his well-stocked replica Texaco service station to visitors Saturday, Sept. 14 for the second annual “Moonshine Memories...Old & New” event at 4087 Snow Creek Road.

The cruise-in type event will showcase vehicles that either hauled moonshine likker — or could have. Sponsored by Franklin County Historical Society, the event will run 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. No admission fee will be charged; however, donations to help the historical society are welcome.

Classic vehicle owners are invited to show their rides with no fee charged. There will be no judging; however, prize drawings among vehicle owners will begin at 1 p.m. No registration is necessary.

There will be a raffle and a 50/50 drawing at 1:30 p.m. Photo ops, music by Smith Mountain Lake Parrot Pan Band and Buddy’s BBQ will be on-site with food.

The historical society will offer discounted trademark moonshine T-shirts. The shirts are sold in glass Mason jars.

For more information, contact the history museum at 483-1890.
