Sankofa African-American Museum on Wheels curator Angela Jennings brought her collections to Ferrum College Jan. 21 in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The collections included authentic whips, chains, and receipts of purchase during the slavery era, spanning from 1860 to present day. African-Americans’ inventions, literary works, and social movements; and the lives of King and former U. S. President Barack Obama, among others were all a part of the display and discussion held Monday. Jennings said she isn’t sure how long she has been cultivating her collections but she has been traveling with the display for 20 years. This was her first visit to Ferrum College
