A man was found dead, Tuesday afternoon, at Philpott Lake after having been reported missing around 10 a.m. to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, Coleman Hale, 73, had gone fishing at approximately 6:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12 and did not return. His truck and boat trailer had been located at Ryan’s Branch Recreational Area on Philpott Lake Tuesday morning.

Members of the sheriff’s office, Franklin County Department of Public Safety, Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Patrick County Sheriff’s Office, Philpott Lake Corps of Engineers and Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries conducted a search of the area and the water.

Around noon, Hale’s boat was located in the water approximately 2 miles from the dock at Ryan’s Branch, and a few hours later, Hale was found deceased in the water, not far from where the boat was located. The press release stated the family has been notified, and Hale’s body was taken to the forensic lab for examination. Sheriff’s deputies said they do not currently suspect foul play in Hale’s death.

That is really shocking news for me as I love to go to the fishing but after reading this I am really fear of fishing because the man found dead near the lake. Visit to get more information. Police should find the reason of his death immediately because people are frightened.
