A Hardy man was arrested in July after reportedly entering a home and stabbing a man while he was lying in bed.
Mitcheal Dean DeHaven, 25, is charged with malicious wounding and entering a house armed with a weapon with intent to commit larceny.
On July 23 a deputy with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call in reference to a stabbing at the 600 block of Old Ridge Drive in Hardy where Gary Wayne Gearheart sustained injuries to the head, chest, back and arms consistent with lacerations and puncture wounds, court documents stated.
Gearheart told the deputy that DeHaven came to the residence and inflicted the injuries onto him, according to court documents, and that “witnesses on scene stated that DeHaven entered the bedroom where the victim and witnesses were laying in the bed and jumped on him and started to stab him.”
Gearheart was later taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
A preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 31 in Franklin County District Court.
