Toy drive successful for Sea Tow

Submitted photo

Sea Tow — SML and Dollar General collected 3,500 toys and $450 for local children in need. The items were delivered to Lake Christian Ministries on Monday, Dec. 9 to be distributed to local families. Of the 3,500 toys turned in, 2,700 toys donated earlier in the summer by Dollar General Stores at their corporate meeting at the W.E. Skelton 4-H Educational Conference Center. The remaining toys were donated by area residents, the Smith Mountain Striper Club, America’s Boating Club (local power squadron), neighbors of The Meadows Property Owners Association and the Striper Mafia Fishing Tournament. Sea Tow — SML Capts. Lee Adkins (from left), Rick Ellett, with Olaf, Barry Bridges, Jerry Hale, Dennis Stamis and Randy Stow helped to deliver the donated toys.
