Stephen “Steve” Maddy announced that he will run for Franklin County Commonwealth’s Attorney against incumbent A.J. Dudley. The election is November 5.
A graduate of Franklin County High School, Maddy was a police officer for 10 total years, working for both Roanoke County and the Town of Rocky Mount.
He has a bachelor of arts in English from Ferrum College, a Master of Arts in Criminal Justice from Radford University, and a law degree from Liberty University.
Maddy worked at The Davis Law Firm until 2012 when he left to start his own practice with Brandon Nester, Maddy & Nester PLLC.
His law career has been focused on estate planning, civil litigation, and criminal and family law, including custody and divorce and guardian ad litem representation for children.
Maddy has served as the attorney for Franklin County Public Schools since 2014. He has been admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court Bar and admitted to practice before the U.S. Western District of Virginia federal court.
Maddy is a Franklin County native and shared that he “would be honored to serve this community that has given me so much in my life.”
