The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office recently recovered two vehicles and several items stolen from a home in Moneta last month.

Kenneth Michael Caron, 34, of Bedford County was arrested in Botetourt County and charged with the theft of a Chevy Silverado, Cadillac Deville, all-terrain vehicle and several other items from a home on Lakewood Forest Road. He surrendered to officers without incident after briefly barricading himself in a home in Botetourt County, according to a release by Capt. Phillp Young with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

The thefts were reported on May 30 when a neighbor noticed a garage door open at the home. Upon further inspection, the neighbor discovered a door in the back of the residence was broken into.

“Investigators with the sheriff’s office soon developed a relative, Kenneth Caron, as a suspect,” Young said.

The Cadillac Deville was found at Walmart in Clearbrook on May 31. With help from the Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office, the Chevy Silverado and ATV were found at a home in Botetourt County. A search warrant was issued for the home, and Caron barricaded himself inside before eventually surrendering to police.

A total of 60 items totaling more than $32,000 was recovered from the home and returned to owners.

Caron was arrested by officers in Botetourt County on June 3. He was charged with two counts of grand larceny of a vehicle, breaking and entering with intent to commit a felony and grand larceny of personal property.

Young said Caron is facing additional charges in Botetourt County.
