A Henry man has been charged with attempted murder and malicious wounding after a shooting and stabbing in Franklin County.

Bobby Cleveland Haulsey, Jr., 47, was arrested Monday after a Saturday scuffle in Ferrum, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday. Deputies outlined the following scenario:

Officers came to the Ferrum Minute Market in the 9700 block of Franklin Street after someone heard shots on Saturday. They found Gerald Lee Young, 32 of Ferrum, who seemed to have been stabbed in the back.

A witness told officers the same person who stabbed Young had also fired a shot in the direction of another Ferrum man, Justin Cordero Bell, 31.

Deputies believe Young had been stabbed earlier that night at a home a few blocks away.

Haulsey is being held at the Western Virginia Regional Jail without bond.

Anyone with information about the stabbing or shooting is asked to contact 352-5174.
