Homeschoolers’ Blue Ridge Day Camp
The Blue Ridge Institute and Museum at Ferrum College invites children ages 5 to 14 to participate in the Homeschoolers’ “Blue Ridge Holiday” Day Camp on Thursday, Dec. 5, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The camp will be held at the Blue Ridge Institute and Museum on the college’s campus at 20 Museum Drive in Ferrum. Cost is $35 per child and includes all activities and lunch. Attendees are invited to participate in blacksmithing, caroling, card making and will make Christmas decorations, such as popcorn and dried cranberry garlands.
“Village of Ferrum” Book Signing with Karl Edwards
Ferrum College’s Blue Ridge Institute and Museum will host a book signing for “A Brief History of the Village of Ferrum, Virginia” by Karl Edwards on Thursday, Dec. 5 from 4 to 7 p.m. The book signing will take place at the Blue Ridge Institute and Museum. Light refreshments will be provided and copies of the book will be available for purchase. This event is free and open to the public.
Ferrum College Takeover at Rocky Mount Burger Company
Ferrum College’s second Ferrum Takeover event happens Thursday, Dec. 5. Alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends of the college are invited to meet beginning at 5 p.m. at Rocky Mount Burger Company to catch up and relax. Free to attend. Guests are responsible for their own food selections. The first 30 people will receive a free drink ticket.
“A Christmas Carol”
Ferrum College will present three performances of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” on Dec. 5 at 7 p.m., Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. The performance will take place in Sale Theatre located at 305 State Route 602 in Ferrum. “The Never Ending Story: A Reflection of Jesus’ Teachings & His Birth”
The Ferrum College Chorale, Concert Choir and Spiritual Life’s Fresh Wind Gospel Choir will present “The Never Ending Story: A Reflection on the Teachings of Jesus and His Birth” on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m. in Vaughn Chapel on campus at 40 Wiley Drive in Ferrum. This performance is free and open to the public.
The Ferrum College Mountain Winds will present “A Fall Concert” on Monday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m. in Sale Theatre in Schoolfield Hall at 305 State Route 602 in Ferrum. This concert is free and open to the public.
Christmas in the Blue Ridge Open House
Festivities include a live decorated tree, homemade cookies and cider, caroling and vendors selling Christmas gifts. The event is free and open to the public. The open house will be held Thursday, Dec. 12 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Blue Ridge Institute and Museum.
