A Glade Hill woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Monday morning, according to Virginia State Police.

Nila J. Pizarro, 67, was driving a 1994 Nissan Pathfinder north on Virginia 671 when the vehicle ran off the right side of the road and overcorrected.

The vehicle crossed the road and struck a tree, Sgt. Rick Garletts said in a news release.

The crash occurred just after 8 a.m. on Virginia 671, one-tenth of a mile south of Virginia 1143, Garletts said.

Pizarro was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene, Garletts said.

The crash remains under investigation.
