From STAFF REPORTS

For a 10th year, Franklin County has been awarded a top 10 national placement in the annual Digital Counties Survey for communities with a population of less than 150,000.

Franklin County was ranked 10th in the survey with Nevada County in California placing first. Montgomery County in the New River Valley placed second in the survey.

At a population of roughly 56,000, Franklin County competed with counties three times its size.

The survey identifies the best technology practices among U.S. counties.

“To achieve and maintain a top 10 national ranking for 10 years in a population bracket that includes much larger counties speaks volumes about Franklin County’s technology efforts to serve our citizens,” said Cline Brubaker, chairman of the Franklin County Board of Supervisors.
