A Rocky Mount man is facing a charge of second-degree murder in the shooting of another man, according to a news release from Sgt. Megan Patterson of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

Gregory Kendrick, 55, was arrested after deputies responded to the 10300 block of Virgil H. Goode Highway around 3:30 p.m. on March 15. Officers found Denny Smith, 59, also of Rocky Mount dead from a gunshot wound in his home, Patterson said.

Kendrick is currently being held at the Franklin County Jail with no bond, Patterson said, adding that it was an isolated incident.
