The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office arrested two men Nov. 8 in connection to a series of break-ins in the Glade Hill and Union Hall areas of Franklin County, according to a news release from Capt. Phillip Young.

James Todd Smith, 54, of Glade Hill was charged with possession of stolen property, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm while in possession of drugs, Young said.

Alan Michael Crook, 26, of Glade Hill was charged with possession of stolen property.

The sheriff’s office recovered 37 items that had been reported stolen, including chainsaws, weed eaters and tools, Young said.

Both men currently are being held in the Western Virginia Regional Jail without bond, Young said. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be pending.

Anyone who has questions about the stolen property or anyone with more information is asked to contact Capt. Paul Caldwell at 352-5174.
