Adjunct FacultyTeacher Education Supervisor (2 positions) Ferrum College seeks qualified, highly motivated candidates for the Adjunct positions of Teacher Education Supervisor. The Teacher Education Supervisor is responsible for mentoring, supervising, and evaluating Ferrum College teacher candidates during their student teaching experiences in Spring 2020. Supervisors observe and evaluate the student teachers' performance in K-12 public school settings, provide written feedback, and facilitate conferences with each student teacher/sponsoring teacher pair. In addition, the supervisor completes two formal, online evaluations of each student teacher's performance, acts as the instructor of record for the student teaching experience, serves as a liaison between the College and area schools, and provides feedback on lesson plans and assignments. The Teacher Education Supervisor is required to attend one training session as well as occasional after-school seminars on campus. Required: Master's degree At least three years of successful, full-time teaching in K-12 public schools. Current or expired Virginia Collegiate Professional Certificate Strong verbal and written communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Preferred: Educational coaching or mentoring experience, especially with novice teachers. Experience using Google Classroom. Travel areas: (Position 1) Gretna, Magna Vista, Sontag, Snow Creek (Position 2) Roanoke, Bedford, Boones Mill, Rocky Mount Workload: The Teacher Education Supervisor may be assigned up to six student teachers and will hold beginning, middle, and ending conferences with the student teacher and sponsoring teacher in addition to observing each student teacher's instruction on four occasions over the course of the semester. Weekly email contact and lesson plan review is required. Compensation includes a stipend plus mileage.
