A taste of Vermont in Franklin County
Photo Album
Robert Martin (center) oversees the process of making maple syrup on his property in Franklin County near the Blue Ridge Parkway. Two large vats are used to cook down the sap, gathered from 30 to 35 red maples.

This is a typical 5-gallon bucket and flexible tubing used to tap the red maples on the property of Robert and Jeanne Martin. About 60 gallons are needed to produce almost 1 gallon of maple syrup.

Jeanne Martin displays the final product of a day-long process: jars of pure maple syrup.
