CONCORD - Ruth Black Eades, 83, died Wednesday, Feb. 3.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. (Bob) Eades.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary Lu Coleman (Ike) of South Carolina, Lynnette Shelton of Rocky Mount and Christie Garrett (Robert) of Roanoke; grandsons, Timothy Shelton, D.J. Eades, Devin Coleman and Chris Shelton; four great-grandsons; and sister, Norma Morrell (John) of Concord.
Oakey's North Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

GATE CITY - The funeral for Mildred Joan McDavid Whited, 82, who died Wednesday, Feb. 3, was conducted Friday, Feb. 5 from the Gate City United Methodist Church by Rev. John A. Duvall and the Rev. Jim Harless. Burial was in Holston View Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Newton McDavid and Maude Elizabeth Lane McDavid; brothers, Harold McDavid and James McDavid; and sisters, Hazel Stokes, Lou Ella Smith and Ursel Copas.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Edwin Whited; daughters, Dana Jo Whited Steel of Kingsport and Lana Ann Whited of Ferrum; grandchildren, Bryson Elizabeth Steel, Nathan Vincent Steel, Jason Charles Edwin Steel, Hailu Emmanuel Grimes-Whited, Brandon Cahill Grimes-Whited, Berhan Lane Grimes-Whited and Tyler Edward Grimes-Whited; brother, Fred McDavid.
Scott County/Carter-Trent Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
