FRIDAY (NOV. 28)

The lighting of Franklin County's Christmas tree will take place at 5 p.m. on the Franklin County Courthouse lawn with music by the BFMS Band, Christmas card contest awards and light refreshments.

MONDAY (DEC. 1)

The Rocky Mount Lifestyle Health Center will hold a cooking class at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $5 per person or $7 per family. Registration is required by calling 483-7775.

An information session for Mountains of Music Homecoming will be held at 4 p.m. at the Visitor's Center. Bring ideas about possible cultural experiences to share.

TUESDAY (DEC. 2)

The Rocky Mount Lifestyle Health Center will hold a care group meeting at 6:30 p.m. There is no cost.

THURSDAY (DEC. 4)

A public meeting concerning the fracked gas pipeline will be held at 7 p.m. at Redwood United Methodist Church.

The Franklin County Girl Scout Leader meeting will be held at Rocky Mount Christian Church at 7 p.m.

SATURDAY (DEC. 6)

A country breakfast fundraiser to provide clothing, shoes, toys and Christmas dinner to area needy families will be held at Boones Mill United Methodist Church from 8 to 10:30 a.m.

An open house of the Jubal Early Homeplace will take place today and Sunday, Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

with house tours and light refreshments. Free to the public.

SUNDAY (DEC. 7)

The Gretna Little Theatre will celebrate with a holiday open house from 4 to 6 p.m. at The Gretna Center for the Arts.

MONDAY (DEC. 8)

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive at the Ferrum College Bookstore from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

"The Making of the Saint John's Bible" with Elizabeth Foster will be presented at the Phoebe Needles Center at 10 a.m. Cost is $25 per person and includes lunch. Register by calling 483-1518.

The Friends of the Franklin County Public Library will hold its monthly used book sale from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Rocky Mount library.

TUESDAY (DEC. 16)
