The Franklin County Humane Society is sponsoring a "Purses with a Purpose" auction to benefit cats and dogs in need.
New, vintage and gently-used purses and wallets will be auctioned online from now until Thursday, Aug. 28 at 9 p.m.
Purses include designer names, like Coach, Thirty One, Dooney & Bourke, Vera Bradley, Calvin Klein and Liz Claiborne.
To view available purses or to make a bid, visit the Humane Society's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/plannedpethoodfranklincountyhumanesociety. Scroll down the page to view available purses.
To bid, click on the picture of the desired purse and add your bid along with your email address.
Bid winners will need to pay for their items within 24 hours of the end of the auction, and items may be picked up at the adoption center.
Payment can be made via PayPal.
More donations of new and gently-used purses are being accepted at the Humane Society. Donated purses arriving too late for the auction will be used in the next auction, according to Humane Society President Donna Essig.
"Check back often, as we will be adding more purses as they come in," Essig said. "Thank you so much to our friends who have donated the bags we have so far. Happy bidding and let's raise some money to help the animals."
