In less than a month, Franklin County will welcome the return of its agricultural fair, Sept. 10-13, at Franklin County Recreation Park on Sontag Road.
The event will include an array of local exhibits and demonstrations, along with a midway, petting zoo, live music, food, tractor shows, a cattle show and a horse show.
Gate admission will be $5 for adults and youth ages 12 and up, $2 for ages 5-11, and free for ages 4 and under. Or patrons can purchase a ride wristband for $10. Wristbands are required for midway rides.
The complete fair schedule, which includes such attractions as All-American Petting Zoo and Pony Rides, Dialed Action Sports Team, Hubba Bubba Clown Show and live music performances by After Jack and The Kings, can be found online at www.FCAgFair.com. The fairgrounds and midway will be open Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 10-11 from 5 to 10 p.m. and on Friday, Sept. 12 from 4 to 11 p.m.
On Saturday, Sept. 13, the dairy and beef cattle show will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Blue Ridge Mountain Garden Tractor Pullers' lawnmower pull event will start at 11 a.m. and the midway will open at noon, with the fairgrounds closing at 11 p.m.
The kick-off open horse show will be Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Ginther Farm, 3128 Sontag Road, within a mile of the fairgrounds.
The fair will host an entry day for competitive exhibits on Monday, Sept. 8 from 1 to 7 p.m. at the recreation park. Categories, which are further broken down by class, include fresh and canned fruits and vegetables, baked goods, canned meats, flowers, quilts and more.
