The Town of Rocky Mount collected $491,865 in meals taxes during the first five months of this year, according to the finance department's June report.
That's down $6,854 from the $498,719 collected in the first five months of 2013.
In May, meals tax collections totaled $98,887, down from $100,779 collected in May 2013.
The largest monthly amount of meals tax collected in this year was in January when $108,245 was collected. The lowest amount collected was $88,119 in February.
The town's meals tax continues to be the largest revenue producer for the town.
The finance department also reported that sales tax collections for the first five months of this year totaled $63,318, down $5,410 from the $68,728 collected during the first five months of 2013.
The largest monthly amount of sales tax collections this year was $13,976 in March. The lowest amount was in April with $11,061.
