Patriot Award nominations now being accepted

Friday, June 6, 2014

It's time once again to honor a Franklin County veteran.

Nominations are now being accepted for the Patriot Award, an honor bestowed each year by the Rocky Mount Rotary Club. The name of that veteran will be announced on Thursday, July 3 at the Rotary Club's Independence Day celebration at the Cy Dillon Football Stadium in Rocky Mount.

The veteran will be presented with a medal (provided by Carter's Fine Jewelers) with a personally engraved presentation case.

Rotary club members are asking the residents of Franklin County to nominate a Franklin County veteran who has served on active duty with any of the nation's five military services.

Nomination forms will be reviewed by a committee of Rotary veterans who will recommend veterans who will be voted on by the entire Rocky Mount Rotary Club.

Nomination forms can be picked up at the News-Post on South Main Street in Rocky Mount or Carter's Fine Jewelers at 400 Old Franklin Turnpike.

Forms should be completed and sent by June 17 to Rol Walters, Rotary Patriot Award, P.O. Box 1000, Ferrum College, Ferrum, VA 24088.
