A proposed 2014-15 general fund budget of $6.5 million for the Town of Rocky Mount includes contributions for a number of special events.
All told, the proposed budget includes $22,500 for special events and the organizations that sponsor them.
Here are the proposed contributions to each of 13 special events with an additional $1,000 undesignated for unexpected requests:
•Franklin County Family Resource Center, $500.
•Franklin County Historical Society, $500.
•Franklin County Perinatal Education Center, $500.
•Franklin County Rescue Squad, $5,000.
•The Franklin Center, $6,000.
•Free Clinic of Franklin County, $3,500.
•Helping Hands, $3,000.
•Piedmont Community Community Services, $300.
•Southern Virginia Child Advocacy Center, $200.
•STEP Inc., $250.
•Stepping Stone Mission, $$750.
•Warren Street Society, $500.
•We Care of Franklin County, $500.
The general fund budget includes most services that town residents expect, including public safety, public works, building and grounds and community development.
