Veteran radio promotional director Sheila Silverstein has joined the Harvester Performance Center as its new assistant general manager.

"We had a lot of very qualified and talented individuals apply for this important position, but Sheila's expertise and experience really stood out as exceptional," said Matthew Hankins, the assistant town manager for Rocky Mount, which owns the Harvester Performance Center.

Silverstein will be responsible for "front of house," daily operations, marketing, accounting, staffing and volunteer development. She will work under the direction of General Manager Gary Jackson.

"I am thrilled to be part of the Harvester Performance Center team," Silverstein said. "This is a dream come true, working in a concert venue and making my home in a wonderful place like Rocky Mount."

"I am looking forward to working with the community and making the Harvester a wonderful experience for all our patrons," she added.

Silverstein joins the Harvester from Clear Channel Radio & Entertainment in Baltimore, Md. During her tenure, she handled promotions and sales for four major metro radio stations, directing major concerts and promotions and developing sales efforts.

Her expertise in fundraising will help develop sponsor relationships necessary to the Harvester's success, and she has a proven track record as a dedicated fundraiser for breast cancer awareness, St. Jude Children's Hospital and Our Daily Bread. She brings her knowledge of marketing with her to help the Harvester Performance Center grow locally and nationally.

"The Harvester team -- management, volunteers and fans -- need someone as dynamic as Sheila to help us make the Harvester become the great, nationally-recognized concert venue we all know it can be," Jackson said. "Her enthusiasm for our work -- developing a great venue that helps Rocky Mount's economy grow and flourish -- really showed through in the interview, and we are fortunate to have her working on our behalf."

The Harvester Performance Center is a 475-seat venue in Rocky Mount that will host over 150 musical acts each year from all genres of music. Visit to see all the upcoming shows.

The performance center is part of the Town of Rocky Mount's economic development program. To learn more, contact Hankins at 540-483-0907.
