Five Franklin County men were arrested last week during moonshine and narcotics raids conducted by Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) special agents.

After several months of investigation, ABC agents and Franklin County Sheriff's Office investigators raided residences on Oakpark Drive in Moneta, Tobacco Road in Glade Hill and Dogwood Hill Road in Boones Mill last week, according to Valerie Hubbard with ABC.
Agents seized more than 20 gallons of moonshine and small amounts of marijuana.
During last week's operation, agents received a tip that led them to another location on Nina's Way in Wirtz, where they seized 150 gallons of moonshine and a small amount of narcotics, Hubbard said. The liquor was discovered behind a false wall in an outbuilding on the property. Criminal charges are pending further investigation.
Pugh was released on $2,500 bond. The others were released on their own recognizance.
