Construction in Franklin County decreased in January, based on the number of building permits issued.
A report by the county building inspections department shows that 55 building permits were issued in January, down from the 77 permits that were issued in January 2013.
However, the value of those building permits issued in January totaled $4,073,316, up from $3,848,005 in January 2013.
Five building permits were issued in January for new residential homes with a total value of $969,802.
Manufactured home permits (single and doublewide homes) totaled five in January, and building permits issued for additions and alterations, and accessory buildings totaled 16.
A total of 374 inspections were conducted in January. Fees collected from all permits issued in January totaled $18,737.
Inspectors drove 5,010 miles in January to conduct construction inspections.
