Rocky Mount Mayor Steve Angle announced Monday night at town council's monthly meeting that he will seek re-election for another four-year term in the May 6 town council election.
Angle, a building administrator at Franklin County High School, served on town council for 16 years before he was first elected mayor eight years ago. He has served as mayor since that time.
Angle said he is seeking re-election because Rocky Mount has seen continuing progress, and "I'd like to see that progress continue for the citizens."
"I ask for the citizen's support one more time," Angle said. "This will be the last time I will run for mayor."
Candidates in the May 6 election must file by 7 p.m. March 4.
In addition to the mayor's post, three seats on town council in Rocky Mount will be up for election. Those seats are currently held by Bobby Cundiff, Bobby Moyer and Jerry Greer.
