Drug distribution, forgery and credit card theft were among the indictments returned Monday by a Franklin County Grand Jury.
An indictment is not a finding of guilt. It is a determination by jurors that enough evidence exists to warrant a trial.
Indictments returned by the grand jury:
•Luther Robert Brown III, six counts of uttering checks having a value of less than $200, knowing at the time that there were insufficient funds in the account to pay, Nov. 28, 2012; Jan. 19, 2013; April 23, 2013; April 24, 2013; April 26, 2013; and May 5, 2013.
•Stephen Vance Chitwood, possess methamphetamine, Aug. 28, 2013.
•Joseph Dale Elliott, take, steal and carry away U.S. currency having a value in excess of $200 and being property of Family Dollar Stores, Dec. 1, 2013; and make a false report as to the commission of a crime to a law enforcement officer with the intent to mislead, Dec. 1, 2013.
•Jacob Carlton Fralin, forge a sales draft without the consent of the cardholder with intent to defraud, Aug. 3, 2013; three counts of using a credit card of another for the purpose of obtaining money, goods or services, having a value of less than $200, Aug. 3, 2013; three counts of receiving goods and services obtained using another's credit card, Aug. 3, 2013.
•Julie Lynn Law, utter a check having a value of less than $200, knowing at the time that there were insufficient funds in the account to pay, Aug. 31, 2013; six counts of uttering checks having a value of more than $200, knowing at the time that there were insufficient funds in the account to pay, Aug. 29, 2013; Aug. 31, 2013 (3); Sept. 1, 2013; and Sept. 3, 2013.
•Hubert Warren Layton, operate a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or other self administered intoxicants after having been previously convicted on two or more occasions within the last 10 years, Sept. 28, 2013.
•Tabitha Nicole Rigney, take, steal and drive away a motor vehicle having a value of more than $200 and being the property of another, July 17, 2013.
•Jeani Smith, forge a check in the amount of $5,000, April 20, 2004; and utter a forged check in the amount of $5,000, April 20, 2004.
•Berkley Lewis Whitlock, possess methamphetamine with intent to sell, give or distribute, March 27, 2013.
