BRASS 5, one of America's most successful educational ensembles, will bring holiday cheer to the Ferrum College campus with their performance of "A Toast to Christmas" on Saturday, Dec. 7.

Patrons may enjoy dinner at 6 p.m. followed by the show for $42 or just the show at 7:30 p.m. for $20. Tickets may be ordered online at www.blueridgeperformingarts.com or by calling (540) 230-6600.

With a repertory that ranges from traditional settings to arrangements of secular Christmas favorites, BRASS 5's evening of Christmas treasures will include something for everyone.

Active on the Mid-Atlantic arts scene for 29 years, the ensemble offers a vast repertoire from Renaissance, classical, Dixieland, swing, jazz, rock to country and more. Their performances have been featured on numerous television and radio programs, and they have been broadcast live on National Public Radio.

The BRASS 5 performance is part of Ferrum College's new Blue Ridge Performing Arts Series, which began this summer after the Blue Ridge Dinner Theatre, which made its home at the college for more than 30 years, closed its doors at the end of the 2012 season when its founders Rex Stephenson and Jody Brown retired.

The series features a variety of professional performances. Events planned in 2014 include music and dance with the Celtibillies on Feb. 14; Barter Theatre's production of "Don't Cry for Me, Margaret Mitchell" on May 3; and a to-be-scheduled Roanoke Symphony Orchestra fundraiser, featuring Bob Ravenscroft and David Wiley, in spring 2014. Additional events, including performances by the college's theatre arts department, will be added to the schedule as well.

Blue Ridge Performing Arts Series patrons will have the option of enjoying a meal prior to each performance for an additional charge. Show-only tickets are also available.

For a detailed performance schedule, reservations and additional information, visit www.blueridgeperformingarts.com or call (540) 230-6600.
