Some 20 teams will be competing for the Best Chili Award when the 11th annual Chili Festival and Craft Show gets under way on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 11 a.m. at Bridgewater Plaza.

In addition to the chili competition, the festival will offer a number of activities to provide entertainment for all ages.

Sponsored by the Smith Mountain Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce, the festival will feature craft vendors and on-site entertainment, including Candy Top the clown who will create balloon hats and pets.

Admission is $5 with children under 6 admitted free when accompanied by an adult.

A free shuttle service to Bridgewater Plaza from LakeWatch plantation and back will be offered.

In addition to the Best Chili Award, other awards include the People's Choice and Outstanding Showmanship awards.

Collectible 2013 Chili Festival short-sleeve t-shirts will be on sale at the event.

Last year, more than 2,000 people attended the SML Chili Festival.
