The Southern Virginia Child Advocacy Center (CAC) will host its fifth annual Harvest Moon Charity Masquerade Ball and Silent Auction on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the YMCA in Rocky Mount.
"It (the ball) brings the community together, promotes thankfulness of hardships overcome and introduces new friends," said Joyce Moran, executive officer of the CAC. "It also supports established services, preventing and responding to children impacted by family and community-based violence."
The ball will feature silent movies, music, buffet dinner, costume contest and a cash bar.
Tickets are $20 per person and $35 per couple or $125 for a table of eight.
Electronic bids will be accepted for the silent auction, Moran said, along with debit and credit card payments. Online bidders have to be 21 years of age and older. For terms and conditions of the online auction, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
To see some of the items to will be auctioned, visit the agency's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/SVCAC4KIDS. Items will be posted closer to the event date.
"Remember, the holidays are coming," said Moran. "The items we will have available make great gifts for friends and relatives."
Over 1,200 people from the Franklin County community receive services through the Southern Virginia Child Advocacy Center annually, Moran said.
"By participating in this event, you will make a difference in the lives of those children and families who are in need of services in your community."
