The human remains found inside a burned vehicle last week in Henry have been identified.
"As a result of DNA analysis, we are confident that the remains are those of Vicky Harbour Purdy, 53, of Henry County," said Franklin County Sheriff Bill Overton.
The state forensic lab confirmed Wednesday that human remains were inside the burned vehicle found Oct. 6 off Philpott Road in Henry.
The vehicle was discovered in a remote area in the 2000 block of Philpott Road, near the Henry County line, according to Lt. Phillip Young with the sheriff's office.
At this time, investigators believe there is only one set of remains in the vehicle, Young said.
An individual looking at land for sale in the area saw the charred vehicle about 3:18 p.m. Sunday and called the sheriff's office.
The vehicle fire is "suspicious," Young said. The vehicle was badly burned.
Anyone who may have information about smoke or a fire in the area within the last couple of weeks or who had recent contact with the victim is asked to contact Lt. Todd Maxey at 483-6601.
