Unbridled Change, a nonprofit equine-assisted therapy center, will host its fifth annual "Bluegrass on the Maggoddee" fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 1 to 5 p.m. at its indoor arena in Boones Mill.

Proceeds will fund and replenish horse funds and scholarship funds for therapy sessions for foster children, families, veterans and at-risk youth.

During the event, staff will be available with horses to answer questions for guests who wish to learn more about Unbridled Change's services and programs.

Bluegrass music will be provided by Blue Mule, Grass Monkey and other local bluegrass bands.

There will also be barn dancing with the Patrick Henry Cloggers.

Southern-style barbecue sandwich plates by Squeals on Wheels will also be available.

A Kids World with crafts and activities will be provided, as well as a silent auction and door prizes.

Tickets in advance are $20 for adults and $10 for children 6 to 12. At the door, tickets are $25 and $12. Children under 5 will be admitted free.

Michelle Holling-Brooks, executive director of Unbridled Change, founded the center in 2008, the first organization in the nation to be accredited by the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA) as a Distinguished Program member and a national leader in the field.

To date, Unbridled Change has served more than 2,500 children, teens and adults in the Roanoke Valley area, working with at-risk youth, victims of domestic violence, victims of sexual abuse, veterans suffering from PTSD and trauma, and disabled individuals.

Saturday's event is sponsored by Commonwealth Autism Services and Greater Roanoke Valley Autism Action Group. Other sponsors include Ron and Diane Holling, Capps Building Supply, The Square Table Group, BB&T, Marilyn Hooker, Squeals on Wheels BBQ and Vistar Eye Center.
