This year's Franklin County Relay for Life saw good weather, increased crowds and more teams than the past few years.
All these things combined helped the Relay, which was held in June, exceed its goal of $108,000 and raise $110,731.74.
Members of the Relay for Life County Committee said they were pleased with this year's turnout. The teams, family members and friends gave the event the needed boost.
Many local businesses were also instrumental, and committee members said the event would not be possible without their help.
Plans for the 2014 Relay are already under way.
Residents can get involved by signing up to help with the planning and execution of this annual fundraiser.
The Relay raises funds for the American Cancer Society, and in turn, the funds are used to benefit those who have been diagnosed with cancer and to fund research that one day might find a cure for this dreaded disease.
