A Rocky Mount man faces up to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty Monday in Franklin County Circuit Court to sexually abusing a child.
Wayne Greer Frith, 52, pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated sexual battery of a child under the age of 13.
The abuse occurred at a residence on Briar Mountain Road on June 3, according to prosecutor Patrick Nix.
Frith was a visitor at the residence where the 5-year-old victim and her siblings were also visiting, Nix said.
When the mother of the children arrived at the residence to pick them up, she discovered Frith in the woods abusing her daughter, Nix said. The victim's older brother told investigators that Frith had also touched his sister "inappropriately" earlier in the day.
Judge W.N. Alexander II declared Frith "guilty as charged" and set a sentencing hearing for Nov. 25 at 3:15 p.m. in circuit court.
Frith is currently incarcerated at the Western Virginia Regional Jail.
