A Penhook man faces up to 43 years in prison after pleading guilty Tuesday in Franklin County Circuit Court to five counts of sexually abusing a child under the age of 13.
Guy William McLaughlin, 23, pleaded guilty to two felony charges of aggravated sexual battery and three misdemeanor charges of sexual battery.
Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Patrick Nix said five incidents occurred between April and September 2011 at a residence in southern Franklin County while the mother of the child was at work.
The charges resulted from inappropriate touching of the child, Nix said.
The child told a teacher at her school what had happened, and school officials alerted the sheriff's office, which investigated the incidents, Nix added.
A sentencing hearing for McLaughlin was set for Nov. 12 at 3:30 p.m. in circuit court.
McLaughlin will remain in jail without bond until the sentencing hearing.
