Three Roanoke area women were charged with prostitution last week by the Rocky Mount Police Department.
Amy Arleen Terry, 50, of Vinton, Lourdes Aneette Vogel, 37, of Roanoke, and Tanya Sue Dawson, 40, of Roanoke are all charged with fornication for money.
Terry is also charged with possession of Hydrocodone.
Investigators with the Rocky Mount Police Department conducted a sting operation on a social media website that the women allegedly used to solicit men interested in paying for sex, according to Police Chief David Cundiff.
The women were arrested when investigators arranged meetings with them at a motel in Rocky Mount, according to the criminal warrants.
Andrew Frank Starkey, 60, of Roanoke was charged with aiding prostitution in connection with the case.
The investigation is continuing, Cundiff said.
Prostitution is a Class 1 misdemeanor, punishable by up to 12 months in jail and a fine of up to $2,500.
Terry and Vogel were released after their arraignment hearing Wednesday in Franklin County General District Court.
Dawson was summoned to appear in court on Sept. 4 for arraignment on the charge, and Starkey's hearing is set for Aug. 28.
