A Ferrum man died Monday morning when his car ran off the road and struck several trees.
Theodore Freeman Crawford, 71, was traveling west on Ingramville Road in a 1990 Lincoln town car when the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and struck several trees, according to Sgt. Rob Carpentieri with the Virginia State Police.
Crawford was not wearing a seat belt, Carpentieri said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The fatality occurred shortly before 11 a.m. Monday on Route 623, two-tenths of a mile east of Route 778 (Republican Church Road) in Ferrum.
No more details are available at this time, Carpentieri said.
