SMAC seeks contributions to new anthology

The Smith Mountain Arts Council (SMAC) is soliciting contributions for a new anthology of poetry, essays and short stories called "Voices from Smith Mountain Lake."

Writers may submit up to six poems, three short stories and three essays for consideration. There is no restriction on the theme of the submissions, but there are restrictions on length.

General formatting instructions are on the Lake Writers website at

Writers should submit two paper copies for review by the submission committee, a 50-75 word biography and a signed permission-to-publish agreement found on the website.

The submissions will be reviewed by a committee, which reserves the right to accept or reject material. The editor may return some material for further work.

Residents of Bedford, Franklin and Pittsylvania counties (and residents of towns in those counties), members of SMAC and current and former members of Lake Writers are eligible to have their writings included in this anthology.

Submissions must be postmarked no later than May 15. Send them to Betsy Ashton at 2020 Minton Circle, Moneta, Va. 24121.
