Registration for students entering kindergarten in Franklin County schools in the 2013-2014 school year will be held in all elementary schools on Thursday, April 25.
School personnel will be on hand in each elementary school to work with parents and guardians.
The hours for a division-wide registration in elementary schools will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Students entering kindergarten for the 2013-2014 school year must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 30, 2013, in accordance with Virginia state regulations.
Parents and guardians will need to bring their child's birth certificate, social security card, immunization records and three documents of proof of residence, such as a driver's license, utility bill, lease agreement or other bills on the day of registration.
Parents and guardians will need to register at the school in the zone in which they reside. If parents are unsure of the school zone in which they reside, they can call the Franklin County schools' transportation department at (540) 483-5541.
If parents wish to apply for out-of-zone attendance, the home school will provide information.
Parents and guardians who have questions about kindergarten registration should contact the school in their zone or call Keith Pennington, director of curriculum and instruction, at the Franklin County School Board office at (540) 483-5138.
