Investigators are seeking information about a home invasion and beating at a residence on Philpott Road in Henry early Thursday morning.
The female resident, who suffered serious injuries, was airlifted to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, according to Lt. Todd Maxey with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office.
The woman was asleep when someone began assaulting her with some type of weapon, Maxey said. The victim could not say whether her attacker was male or female or what the weapon may have been.
The victim was able to call 911 and ask for help, Maxey said.
The incident occurred just before 7 a.m. Thursday.
